Stage Management Voices
-
Expectation
It is assumed that all stage managers are gifted with vocal confidence and excellent technique. It is expected that they can command a room (regardless of size), fearlessly address an audience and whisper over comms.
-
Reality
Communication and voice is central to the role of stage management. Those with a confident voice and excellent communication skills progress further and faster in their careers.

Help
Having had a career as a SM I know the stresses we put ourselves and our voices under.
Using my industry experience and technical knowledge let’s build your vocal confidence helping you to reach your goals.
Workshops
I am so passionate about the need for voice work in SM training that it was the theme for my MA Voice dissertation!
Of the students I surveyed 90% responded that they would be more likely to explore their voice and communication style with a practitioner not affiliated to their course. I also discovered 55% didn’t believe their voice truly represented them.
This has led me to develop voice and communication workshops specifically for SM students and working professionals. They cover everything from making yourself heard at a meet and greet, conflict resolution to show stops. Participants are encouraged to explore their own managerial style and authentic voice, setting them up for success in the industry.
